Thinkers50 Big Issue

As part of framing and understanding the agenda for organizations in 2018 for this Brightline sponsored Agenda 2018 initiative, we asked a number of thinkers about the issues they believed were important in the year ahead and that business leaders should be discussing at Davos.

Unsurprisingly, technology was a common theme. Issues ranged from considering the cascading impact of disruptive technology through business, the economy and society more generally, to the challenge of escaping past paradigms for large corporations.  Other issues identified related to the Davos 2018 theme of shared solutions in an increasingly divisive world. These included values as a touchstone in an uncertain times, the need for inclusive work environments, reconciling the objectives of doing societal good and making money, and inequality generally.

The thinkers also focused on the approach to dealing with threats and seizing opportunities. They emphasised the need for leaders to think about new problems outside of the existing models, embrace diversity of thinking, move beyond short-termism, and eliminate the gap between strategy and reality.
